Just 1/2 mile out the Northeast Yellowstone entrance, Silver Gate's quaint setting and spectacular scenery will create a sense of calm and awe. Cooke City, just 4 miles up the road, offers much all by itself for the traveler searching for some outdoor adventures. You can take the Beartooth Highway, known as one of America's most spectacular drives. Climb to over 10,900 feet through incredible alpine scenery. You can only take this drive in the summer months. Also in the summer, all around the Beartooth Mountains, you will find plentiful fishing spots and more hiking trails than you'll know what to do with. View the Rocky Mountain sheep and goats and wander the meadows of wildflowers.
In winter, Cooke City is headquarters for unbelievable snowmobiling, while Silver Gate caters to the quieter sports of snowshoeing, X-C skiing and wildlife viewing.
